Copyright Registration

Copyright functions as a form of intellectual property protection, akin to trademarks and patents. The process of copyright registration, as per the Copyright Act of 1957, bestows legal ownership upon the creator of various forms of artistic expression, including books, paintings, music, and websites. Registering copyright with the relevant authority ensures that the creative work is safeguarded against unauthorized duplication, and individuals must seek the author’s permission for any use or modification. The author holds the right to charge others for the use or alteration of their work. Copyright registration, therefore, acts as a shield against infringement, protecting the rights of the creator.
